Cardiff and Vale College Update: Face Coverings
Last updated: 06.04.21
At Cardiff and Vale College our top priority is keeping our staff and students safe when on campus. We are following Welsh Government guidance and as part of this, alongside 2m social distancing and other important measures, 3-layer face coverings are an important measure to reduce the spread and minimise the risk to all.
Face Coverings Guidance for Staff and Students
All staff and students must wear a 3-layer face covering at all times and everywhere on every CAVC campus, both indoors and outdoors.
To enter a CAVC campus you must be wearing an appropriate 3-layer face covering or be clearly displaying one of the college’s pink face covering exemption cards, having registered your exemption. Staff and learners who are medically exempt from wearing a face covering must apply for and display the exemption card at all times when on site.
Your face covering should be a three-layer, in line with government guidance. Government guidance on face coverings can be found here with useful information on this and using one responsibly.
Please bring your own face covering to campus each day. If you forget to bring it or do not have one when you arrive at campus you will be issued one from reception.
If wearing a disposable mask on campus please ensure that you dispose of in the general waste bins. These will be emptied on a regular basis in line with guidance.
Face coverings can only be removed by staff or students in the following specific circumstances when on campus:
- in a lesson, exam or assessment if everyone remains 2m socially distanced for the duration, staff and learners can choose to remove their face covering
- staff may remove their face covering in workrooms/ office spaces if alone or 2m socially distanced at all times from other colleagues
- staff and learners may remove to eat or drink if 2m socially distanced on campus
