About this course

Our Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating qualification has been developed for delivery in a training environment, which means you do not need to be employed to study this course. This programme of accelerated learning is designed to fast track pupils from basic skills up to a level 2 standard, within a structured delivery. The course will enhance your skills, knowledge and understanding of the construction industry and enable you to work in Painting and Decorating or progress onto further training. This qualification supports the learner to attain fundamental and transferable practical skills, with associated underpinning knowledge, and industry will accept this qualification on its own as entry to a job role.

What you will study

Key components of the course include:

  • Preparing surfaces for decoration
  • Painting by brush and roller
  • Applying standard papers to walls and ceilings
  • Producing specialist decorative finishes
  • Applying water-borne paint systems using high volume low pressure (HVLP) spray equipment

You will learn the practical skills, theoretical knowledge and understanding of this trade, which will enable you to continue onto the progression routes at trade-specific levels.

Experienced and qualified staff will support and guide you to the Awarding Body level of competency.

  • Craft practical studies 60%
  • Craft theory studies 40%
  • Development of your application of number, communication and employabliity skills.

Interview. 4 GCSEs Grade A* - F or Assessment grade minimum E3 from Skill Scan assessment.
