If you have a keen interest in pursuing new creative and technical skills, our Additive Manufacturing course is an excellent start to gain an understanding and practical experience of the process of 3D printing. This course will introduce you to the methods of 3D printing, including fused deposition modelling (FDM) and stereolithography (SLA), allowing you to apply these methods to a number of workshop activities and also a self-identified craft project.
Course Structure:
Week 1 - 2: Digital Modelling
Week 3 - 4: FDM Printing
Week 5 - 6: SLA Printing
Week 7 - 10: Self-Identified Craft Project

This course covers a range of topics including:
• Understand 3D printing applications and processes.
• Be able to relate 2D images to virtual 3D models.
• Be able to develop a 2D concept into a 3D artefact using appropriate printing software and hardware tools.
• Be able to evaluate the 3D printing process.
You will document your work for each session within a digital portfolio.

Applicants are not required to hold any formal qualifications to enrol on this course. Desirable candidates will be motivated and committed to completing this course.

Bench Based Workshop:
• Availability of a wide range of materials including wood, card, foam, plastics
• Access to professional tools and equipment including bandsaws, spray booths, hot wire cutters.
• Fabrication production including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines and die cutters.
Computer Suites:
• Mac computers
• Digital modelling software’s including AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Google SketchUp and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
