About this course

This course is for learners who have an interest in avionics or are thinking of taking part in their A or B licence CAA exams. All delegates will receive a Certificate of Attendance upon completion of this course. This five-day course includes lectures, discussion and sessions in ICAT’s fixed base flight simulator. Learners will be introduced to the main aspects of aircraft avionics and electrical systems.

What you will study

The course will go through the following subjects:

  • The cockpit environment – a historical overview, evolution and crew tasks; human factors issues
  • Head up displays
  • Navigation fundamentals
  • Fundamentals of radio propagation and antenna design
  • Airborne instrumentation and air data sensors (Pitot Statics)
  • Fly-by-wire: Basic principles and history
  • Airborne surveillance systems: ACAS and TAWS
  • Avionics function design and safety
  • Databuses: basic concepts, ARINC 429/629/664 MIL-1553

The only requirement to participate in this course is a passion for the industry and a desire to learn a new subject.
