About City Centre Campus 

This large campus, just a few minutes walk from Cardiff city centre and Cardiff Central Train Station, includes six different sites.

As a college in the heart of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, CAVC recognises the impact that student and staff travel has on the environment.

We encourage staff, students and visitors to travel actively to and from campuses where possible.

Here’s some useful information to support your journey to this campus.

The CAVC Rider

The CAVC Rider is a free bus service for all staff & students, travelling between our Cardiff and Vale College campuses, commencing 9th September 2024.

Please note, learners will be turned away if they are caught using an old 2023-24 badge, so please ensure you collect an updated 2024-25 badge from Student Services to board the CAVC Rider.

Nearest train station: Cardiff Central

Bus route: Cardiff Bus Services 1 and 2 stop near the main college building on Dumballs Road, or alternatively, most services start and end in the city centre which is just a short walk away.

Parking: Very limited parking available. The car park at the rear or the campus is for staff and students only on a first-come, first served basis. From September 2024, you will need to use your CAVC ID badge to get through the barrier. There is limited paid for, on street parking around the campus, please see details in the map below.

CAVC City Centre Campus 

Our landmark £45m building is at the heart of this campus. Opened in 2015 by the First Minister, the huge building includes a wide range of specialist facilities from the 100-seat Theatre Michael Sheen, the renowned fifth floor The Classroom restaurant, our unique city salon and spa and over 230 top class teaching spaces.

CAVC One Canal Parade

This building, just next door to our main City Centre Campus building, includes our CAVC Business Centre – a dedicated space available to hire for business training and events. It also includes a huge range English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) provision.

CAVC Automotive Training Centre

The CAVC Automotive Centre is a dedicated space for our popular automotive courses for individuals and employers. It includes light and heavy vehicle workshops and state of the art bodywork workshops and spray booths. It is based just next door to our main campus building.

Just opposite the main doors to our City Centre Campus main building you’ll find CAVC Building Services Centre. This building is the dedicated city centre base for electrical, plumbing, tiling and other building services trade training.

A 5-minute walk from the main campus building, towards Cardiff Bay, you’ll find our dedicated city centre base for construction trades training including brickwork, carpentry and joinery.
