About Hairdressing, Beauty and Complementary Therapies
Gain the industry qualifications and experience to start your career as a Hair Stylist, Colour Technician, Beauty Therapist, Complementary Therapist or Salon Manager. You will learn in outstanding facilities including our vast commercial hairdressing salons and beauty treatment rooms with paying clients. This includes our landmark city centre ‘Urbasba’ – a unique facility and one of the largest of its kind in the country which also boasts an urban spa with jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, floatation tank and more. You will learn with industry qualified staff, using high quality products including Elemis and Goldwell. You will also benefit from masterclasses by visiting professionals from top names including Nails Inc.
Our students go on to successful careers in some of the best salons and spas in the country. You could develop a career as a hair stylist, colour technician, barber, beauty therapist, nail technician, salon manager and more. Some of our students have even opened their own successful salons.
South East Wales accounts for 47% of the employment opportunities across Wales in the Hairdressing and Beauty Sector, providing excellent opportunities for progression into employment Habia, 2014). South East Wales has 13.2% predicted growth by 2020 (EMSI, 2015).
Our hair and beauty students have enjoyed great success in national skills competitions winning gold and bronze medals at the Skills Competition Wales final. CAVC Barry student Nadia Hadjali also won Hairdressing Student of the Year UK. Students also have a great track record for securing employment in top salons and spas with five Beauty Therapy students gaining employment with The Celtic Manor Resort just this year.
