About Construction

Our construction courses and Apprenticeship programmes train you to become a skilled and qualified tradesperson in brickwork, carpentry and joinery, wall and floor tiling, painting and decorating or plastering. You will study in our dedicated construction centres and facilities. These include classrooms for theory and huge trade-specific workshops where you develop your practical skills each week. CAVC also offers hundreds of work placements to construction students each year, as well as the chance to take part in national skills competitions – all helping you stand out from the crowd and gain employment.

After completing their qualification most students progress into employment in the construction industry. This includes jobs with large employers such as Willmott Dixon and Redrow, smaller construction companies or even starting their own business.

£10bn of investment has been identified for the next 7 years across South East Wales. CITB has predicted over 5,600 jobs to be created over the period (LSkIP, 2015). The majority of the workforce are in full-time posts (88%) and trained up to level 3.

250 CAVC construction students helped build the brand new City Centre Campus! How’s that for hands-on experience to help boost your CV?!
