About Catering and Hospitality

Would you like to be the next great chef, renowned baker or manage a top restaurant? On our well-respected catering and hospitality courses you can gain the knowledge, skills, experience and industry recognised qualifications to start a career as a Chef, Baker, Patisserie Chef or Front-of-House specialist.

You will learn in top class facilities, huge training kitchens, butchery, bakery and in our commercial restaurants including our new landmark city centre restaurant ‘The Classroom’. All staff are industry professionals and you’ll also benefit from masterclasses for students from visiting top professionals including James Sommerin, Phil Vickery and Larkin Cen. All this prepares you for your future career and provides inspirational experiences to help you stand out from the crowd.

Most students choose to progress into industry, gaining employment back-of-house (e.g. as chefs, pastry chefs or bakers), or front of house. Our students have gone onto work at Michelin star restaurants and five star locations across Wales, the UK and the world.

There are currently over 36,600 jobs as at 2015 – which is 2% above the national average across South East Wales. Both Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan (5.1% increase in jobs) are growing faster than South East Wales (4.7% increase in jobs) with these occupations (EMSI, 2016).

Our restaurant The Classroom (where Cardiff based Catering and Hospitality students train) is highly acclaimed recently receiving a glowing review by Jay Rayner in The Observer Magazine and being rated among the top restaurants in Cardiff on Tripadvisor. Great experience for your CV!
