Wales Contact Centres Forum welcomes Cardiff and Vale College as a venue

Cardiff and Vale College’s International Centre for Aerospace Training (ICAT) recently played host to a major business conference.

The Wales Contact Centre Forum held its Employers’ Forum event at the aircraft engineering training facility based at Cardiff Airport. The Forum represents a major Welsh employer – there are more than 160 contact centres across Wales with in excess of 24,000 employees and the event proved an excellent opportunity for the College to build upon its business and industry contacts.

The College is in constant communication with employers across Wales to ensure that the courses on offer meet the needs of industry so that as jobs are created people have the skills to fill them. Hosting events such as the Forum can help foster these links.

And as an extra treat for the Wales Contact Centre Forum members, they were given a guided tour of ICAT during their lunch break. They were shown the Jetstream 31 and Bulldog aircraft, and the ‘classroom in the sky’ – the fuselage of a Boeing 737 that is attached to the side of the building and used for training Cabin Crew students as well as an unusual meeting/training venue, this being just one of ten College sites offering hospitality and venue hire.

Wales Contact Forum Managing Director Sandra Busby said: “This has been a brilliant venue. It has been great for attracting people along – we always get good attendance but we’ve seen some people today that we haven’t seen for a while.

“We have a roomful of leaders from the Contact Centre industry from across South East Wales and there is a lot more we can do as an industry with the College. There are skills that the businesses need and we are very, very happy to work with the College to identify skills gaps and the potential training that the College can offer.”
