Travel and Tourism students help Tidy Wales

A group of around 60 students from the Travel and Tourism courses at Cardiff and Vale College took part in a litter pick recently to clean up their neighbourhood.

Organised by the College’s Trowbridge campus as part of Tidy Wales Week 2011, learners were out in force collecting rubbish from 1pm until 2pm, gathering an astonishing 10 bags of rubbish in that hour. They picked litter around Trowbridge Road, the playing fields and some students cleaned up parts of the College car park.

Anne Parkin, Head of Sport and Community Studies at the College said “This is one of many initiatives the Travel and Tourism tutors are always very quick to respond to. They are extremely proactive and encourage their learners to  work within the local community, to appreciate the importance of maintaining a healthy and clean environment. An environment that we can all enjoy”.
