Students host live music gigs around Cardiff

On March 7th 2012 a group of students from Cardiff and Vale College, known as Sweet Promotion, will host a two stage live music event raising money and awareness for cancer charity CLIC Sargent at Buffalo Bar in Cardiff. The event will feature up and coming local artists from full bands to acoustic acts staged on two floors of the venue. Melo Park with Sian Evans (lead vocalist for Kosheen and co-writer of last summer’s Number 1 hit Louder by DJ Fresh) will play on the acoustic stage, as well as Captain Accident and many more. The second floor main stage will see performances from bands such as Sharks Don’t Sleep, General Jumbo, By Proxy, White Knuckle Ride and Hitler’s Hair. The event will be held at Buffalo Bar and over the course of the evening the audience will enjoy a rotation of performances between the two stages.

Sweet Promotion is a local group of enthusiastic music students who are all studying on the Foundation Degree in Pop Music Technology at Cardiff and Vale College. They work to promote local music and help raise money for different charities; the gig at Buffalo bar will be the first of many gigs.

Jessica Green (member of Sweet Promotions) said: “The group is passionate about promoting local music and giving artists a platform to showcase their music for a good cause.

Entry is £3 with a flier (which can be found at The Music Box Studio and various other outlets in Cardiff) or £4 on the door. All money raised will go to CLIC Sargent, a charity which offers support and care for children and young people with cancer. As the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity they are the only organisation to offer all round care, from providing specialists nurses to grants and holidays for children suffering from leukaemia and other cancers.

Doors open at 7.30pm first band on stage at 8pm.
