From Barry to Barcelona for Cardiff and Vale College Creative Design students
A group of students from Cardiff and Vale College’s Creative Design Department recently spent two weeks in Spain on work experience with a leading design and marketing agency.
The three Graphic Design students had their work placement at ACV Global Design, based in Barcelona. The firm specialises in marketing, communication and publication.
Aimee Cattle, 20 and from Barry, William Sartain-Jones, 18 and from Cardiff and 22-year-old Tom Williams from Llandough produced work for digital on-line books and gained valuable insights into the design workplace.
As well as their work placement, which was made possible with funding from Colegau Cymru, the students experienced the rich cultural heritage of the city. They visited many of the Gaudi architectural highlights, including the Sagrada Familia Cathedral, as well as seeing the Picasso and Miro museums along with other sights.
Aimee said: “This has been an amazing experience which I will never forget. To be able to work in Barcelona and see all the sights has been inspirational – not only that but I am sure this opportunity will improve my job prospects in the future.”
The trip was organised by Art & Design Lecturer Jonathan Williams. He said: “All of the participants have had an incredible experience which will enhance their portfolios for progression to university or the workplace.”
Rosa Collado, Director of ACV Barcelona, added: “It has been a pleasure having the students here and I hope that the connection with Cardiff and Vale College will continue long into the future.”
