Deloitte and Cardiff and Vale College join forces to offer business apprenticeships

Deloitte, one of the UK’s largest professional services firms, has entered into a partnership with Cardiff and Vale College [CAVC] to offer their first apprenticeship programme in Wales in a bid to develop the future workforce of the Cardiff Financial Services Enterprise Zone.

The Deloitte Business Administration Apprenticeship offers an opportunity for people to earn while they learn; developing the skills needed for a career in the financial and professional services sector at the same time as gaining the necessary qualifications.

Based in Deloitte’s Cardiff Delivery Centre, the apprenticeship spans many aspect of Deloitte’s business, giving applicants a unique experience of the inner workings of a large international organisation; not solely working with the firm’s clients in South Wales.

With tasks including research, compliance and administration; and work with both clients and internal teams, apprentices will each have a designated Deloitte mentor, support from CAVC industry experts and access to the College’s facilities in its new landmark campus which is based in the heart of the Cardiff Financial Services Enterprise Zone.

Ross Flanigan, the Director in charge of the Deloitte Cardiff Delivery Centre concept, said:

“Our first apprenticeship programme in Wales combines on-the-job training with study towards an industry standard qualification, providing a fantastic way for young people to get a head start in an influential and meaningful professional career. We are delighted to be collaborating with CAVC and are confident that our apprentices will benefit from the excellent learning and social environment the new college campus will provide as they start their working life with Deloitte.

"Our investment in apprenticeships and partnership with the College reinforce our commitment as a firm to the continued development of talent in the region and the Cardiff Enterprise Zone.”

The College’s new City Centre Campus, which will open to students in September, forms a large part of the College’s commitment to the economic development of the region and Financial Services Enterprise Zone.

A key member of the National Skills Academy for Financial Services, CAVC is leading the way with training and development in the financial services industry and this new partnership marks another step forward in developing the skills of the employer’s workforce.

Cardiff and Vale College Apprenticeships Chief of Operations Andrew Whitcombe said: Cardiff and Vale College and Deloitte have formed a collaborative partnership to provide exciting Apprenticeship provisions for young people across Wales and within the Financial Enterprise Zone at the heart of our Capital City.

“This is an excellent opportunity for young people to develop skills whilst in paid employment and achieve a recognised qualification. Deloitte are offering one of the most innovative Apprenticeship programs in Wales which offer a real alternative to academic learning.”
