CAVC students combine to hold art exhibition in Cardiff Bay
Foundation Degree Art students from Cardiff and Vale College have organised ‘Combination’ – an exhibition of their work in Cardiff Bay art venue Craft in the Bay.
The exhibition features work in textiles, ceramics and graphic design and will run at Craft in the Bay until March 19th. Many of the works on display are for sale and the first and second year students are marketing and running the exhibition themselves.
“This is the biggest exhibition in Craft in the Bay that we have had yet,” said Billy Adams, CAVC Course Leader for the Foundation Degree in Art and Ceramics. “We have 12 students exhibiting in three disciplines – textiles, ceramics and graphic design. The work is based in part in the students’ own personal views and work based on Cardiff Bay itself.”
One of the students exhibiting his work is 43-year-old Spencer Penn from Penarth. The Foundation Degree in Ceramics said: “It’s really good for us to be able to have our work displayed in such a professional environment as Craft in the Bay.”
The College has strong links with Craft in the Bay, which is run by the Makers Guild in Wales. It is the third year that students have been invited to hold an exhibition but the first time so many of them had done so.
Combination will run at Craft in the Bay until March 19th.
